The Soap Box Derby event itself provides a venue for fellowship, building enduring friendships and is a family friendly event that allows those attending to have fun.
The Soap Box Derby provides kids and parents with financial means and those that may be struggling, the opportunity to participate in a fun and exciting event that through the years has proven to bring families closer together.
The Soap Box Derby doesn’t discriminate. Kids can be rich or poor, black, white or Asian. It doesn’t matter what faith you believe in or if you’re a girl or a boy. What matters is that some special Kids have several weeks if not months working alongside their parents or mentors on a project that will give them the opportunity to compete against their peers and represent their family and their sponsors in the Greatest Amateur Racing Event in the World.
To see a child proudly display their name on the side of a car and on race day be proud of what their team has accomplished They get to race that car down a steep hill while hundreds of people; family and friends cheer them on. And at the end of the day whether they finished first or last, they are all winners and their parents, family, friends and sponsors are proud of them and of what they’ve accomplished.
Soap Box Derby is recognized internationally and is highly respected by educators, businesses and community leaders throughout the world. The program strives to instill important values in children through learning basic construction skills and participating in a fun spirited activity. In today’s environment it is more important than ever to stimulate kids interest in seeking careers in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math.
